Roman Akafate is an entrepreneur, speaker and inspirational author whose life story is a powerful testament to resilience, faith and determination.
Born in Ethiopia, Roman’s journey began with unimaginable loss. At just five years old, she lost her mother, a single parent of seven children and only two months later, her older brother passed away. In the absence of their mother, the family was torn apart and Roman and her siblings were separated across different homes, towns and villages.
Raised by relatives and later her great-grandfather, who also passed away, Roman spent nearly two decades navigating hardship, instability and survival. Through years of emotional, physical and mental challenges, she endured experiences that would shape her strength and perspective on life.
Her turning point came when she won the Diversity Visa Lottery, bringing her to America in her mid-twenties. While the transition came with its own challenges new culture, new language and a new way of life Roman remained committed to building a better future through persistence, perseverance and purpose.
Today, Roman stands as a voice of hope and transformation. Through her work, she inspires others to rise above their circumstances and believe in the possibility of a better life.
Her message is simple, yet powerful: no matter where you come from, you can build a winning life.
